Sunrock has reached financial close on a €110 million, approximately $125 million, green financing facility with Crédit Agricole Corporate and Investment Bank (CA-CIB) to expand and operate its commercial and industrial rooftop solar portfolio in France. The financing is structured as a green loan and aligned with the EU Taxonomy, with sustainability reporting and monitoring requirements built into the framework.
The facility combines a €50 million term loan with an accordion option of up to another €50 million, giving Sunrock additional funding flexibility as its French project pipeline develops. The initial portfolio covered by the financing comprises 13 commercial and industrial solar projects with a combined capacity exceeding 50 MWp, while the company has identified a broader French portfolio of about 150 MWp.
A notable feature of Sunrock’s French strategy is its focus on large logistics and industrial rooftops rather than conventional ground-mounted solar sites. The company develops projects across the full lifecycle, including technical assessment, financing, design, construction and operations. Its French projects can also use collective self-consumption structures, allowing locally generated electricity to serve nearby users while retaining the possibility of market sales.
Sunrock’s recent French developments illustrate the scale of this approach. At Valence in the Drôme region, the company is developing an 8.3 MWp rooftop installation across approximately 37,000 square meters, using 18,468 solar modules. The project is expected to generate around 11,000 MWh annually and avoid more than 3,500 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions each year.
The financing also gives Sunrock a platform to combine rooftop generation with broader energy solutions. Its offering includes intelligent energy management, battery storage, electric vehicle charging and energy trading capabilities. This integrated model is intended to increase the value of renewable generation for logistics and industrial customers while supporting their decarbonization efforts.
Sunrock has identified France as a major growth market and is targeting 200 MW of delivered solar capacity in the country by 2030. The new financing therefore represents more than project-level debt, providing a repeatable funding structure for a growing pipeline of distributed solar assets across France.
