NLC India Limited has invited bids to lease 1,500 acres of land in Gujarat for solar power projects through its subsidiary NLC India Renewables Limited. The tender forms part of the company’s broader renewable energy expansion strategy in India.

NLC India Limited (NLCIL) has floated a tender to arrange 1,500 acres of land on a lease basis in Gujarat for the development of solar power projects on behalf of its subsidiary, NLC India Renewables Limited (NIRL).

The company has invited bids for the project until 23 June 2026, while the tender document has been priced at approximately Rs. 20,000.

The scope of work includes arranging government or private land parcels in Gujarat on a leasehold basis, based on an estimated requirement of five acres per MW for solar project development. The selected bidder will also be responsible for conducting topographical surveys and providing site-enabling infrastructure.

In addition, the bidder must secure all required permits, No Objection Certificates (NOCs), approvals, and statutory clearances associated with the land and project development process.

Under the tender conditions, multiple land parcels may be accepted, provided each parcel has a minimum area of 500 acres. If several parcels are offered, all sites must have identified motorable access roads free from ownership disputes or physical obstructions. Where access roads are unavailable, bidders will be required to construct them through the shortest feasible route.

Workers install and inspect solar photovoltaic panels at a utility-scale renewable energy facility, supporting India’s expanding clean energy infrastructure.

The tender further states that any Right-of-Way (ROW) issues related to interconnections between land parcels must be resolved by the successful bidder. All proposed sites must be located within a 50-km radius of the nearest Gujarat Energy Transmission Corporation (GETCO) pooling substation and support connectivity for voltage levels of 132 kV and above.

Each land parcel should be capable of supporting at least a 100 MW solar power project and have corresponding connectivity provisions at the nearest GETCO substation.

NLCIL has also mandated compliance with applicable Gujarat state policies for solar power development. The land offered must not fall within the Great Indian Bustard (GIB) conservation zone and should be legally suitable for solar project development.

Further, the land must have clear ownership titles and remain free from encroachments, litigation, disputes, or other legal encumbrances. According to the tender, the entire scope of work, including site development and related infrastructure, must be completed within nine months from the issuance of the Letter of Award (LoA).
