Insolation Green Energy has secured nine decentralised solar projects totalling 99 MW AC from MSEDCL under MSKVY 2.0, with an estimated investment of ₹425 crore.

Insolation Green Energy Private Limited has won a 99 MW AC solar project portfolio from Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL), adding nine decentralised renewable energy projects to its development pipeline. The wholly owned subsidiary of Insolation Energy Limited will develop the projects across multiple locations in Maharashtra under the state’s Mukhyamantri Saur Krushi Vahini Yojana 2.0.

The awarded portfolio has a combined capacity of 99 MW AC and 128.7 MW DC and will comprise ground-mounted, grid-connected solar plants. The projects were selected through MSEDCL’s tariff-based competitive bidding process and are intended to supply renewable electricity to the state distribution network.

The overall investment required for the nine developments is estimated at approximately ₹425 crore, including GST. MSEDCL has finalised a levelised tariff of ₹2.90 per kWh for the entire portfolio, with each project backed by a 25-year power purchase agreement.

Once commissioned, the plants are expected to produce around 20.59 crore units of electricity annually. At the contracted tariff, the portfolio could generate approximately ₹59.72 crore in annual revenue, creating a long-term contracted income stream for Insolation Green Energy over the operating period.

The company will have responsibility for the projects throughout their lifecycle, covering development, construction, operation and maintenance, as well as the supply of electricity under the PPAs. The nine plants are required to be commissioned within 18 months of execution of their respective power purchase agreements.

The projects form part of Maharashtra’s effort to expand decentralised solar generation, particularly for meeting the electricity requirements associated with agricultural consumers. Under MSKVY 2.0, solar plants located closer to distribution infrastructure can support the availability of renewable power for agricultural feeders and reduce dependence on conventional generation.

The distributed configuration of the portfolio also provides an alternative to concentrating new solar capacity in a small number of large parks. By deploying plants across multiple locations, the programme can bring renewable generation closer to the parts of the distribution network where electricity is required.

For Insolation Energy, the award represents a significant addition to its project development activities and strengthens its presence in Maharashtra’s renewable energy market. The combination of 99 MW AC capacity, long-term PPAs and predictable tariff-based revenue provides the company with greater visibility over its future generation portfolio.

Maharashtra has been placing greater emphasis on decentralised renewable generation as it seeks to expand solar power availability, particularly during daytime agricultural demand. Projects developed under MSKVY 2.0 are expected to contribute to this transition by adding distributed clean generation capacity to the state’s electricity system.

With an investment of around ₹425 crore, the nine-project portfolio will add a substantial block of new solar capacity to Maharashtra once construction is completed. The development also highlights the increasing role of decentralised solar projects in meeting agricultural electricity demand while supporting the state’s broader renewable energy expansion.
