Vikram Solar has secured a 400 MW module supply order from an undisclosed EPC company for a portfolio of decentralized solar projects across multiple locations in Maharashtra. The one-time domestic order will use the company's 620 Wp N-Type TOPCon G12R modules, with deliveries scheduled to begin in October 2026 and the order expected to be completed by March 2027. The financial value of the contract and identity of the EPC customer have not been disclosed.
The technology specified for the order is a notable feature. Vikram Solar will supply G12R modules using N-Type TOPCon cells in a glass-to-glass, bifacial, half-cut configuration. The 620 Wp rating places the modules in the company's high-power G12R portfolio, which is designed to increase generation from each installed module while retaining bifacial power generation capability
The projects are associated with Maharashtra's agricultural-feeder solarization program, where decentralized solar generation is developed closer to agriculture-dominated distribution substations. Under Mukhyamantri Saur Krushi Vahini Yojana 2.0, Maharashtra has structured projects in the distributed renewable energy mode to provide daytime electricity to agricultural feeders and reduce the distance between generation and the loads being served.
The project structure is important because this is not simply a conventional utility-scale solar park. MSEDCL's MSKVY 2.0 framework allows decentralized projects to be located within defined distances of agriculture-load-dominated substations, with the scheme originally targeting projects ranging from 0.5 MW to 25 MW depending on the applicable framework. This distributed approach is intended to support agricultural electricity supply while making use of existing distribution infrastructure.
The Maharashtra program also incorporates mechanisms intended to accelerate project development. MSEDCL's published scheme features include land-lease support for private landowners and farmers, annual escalation in the lease amount and a one-time grant of ₹25 lakh per substation from the Green Cess Fund for eligible projects. The scheme's published framework also provides for power procurement through different contracting routes, including competitive bidding.
Vikram Solar Chairman and Managing Director Gyanesh Chaudhary said the order reflects demand for high-efficiency modules in geographically distributed solar deployments and linked the company's participation to programs such as MSKVY 2.0. The company said the order strengthens its position in the agricultural-feeder solarization segment, which is becoming an important part of Maharashtra's decentralized renewable energy infrastructure.
There is also an important distinction in how the project should be described. Although some recent reports use terms such as agri-solar or agrivoltaic in connection with the order, the disclosed project details specifically describe decentralized agricultural-feeder solar projects. The available information does not establish that the 400 MW portfolio will use agrivoltaic systems that combine photovoltaic generation with agricultural cultivation beneath or between elevated solar modules. The clearer description is therefore agricultural-feeder solarization.
The order comes as Vikram Solar continues to shift its product portfolio toward larger-format N-Type G12R technology. The company announced in January 2026 that it was transitioning its portfolio to G12R modules, while its current product portfolio includes bifacial glass-glass and G12R N-Type products. The company also has manufacturing facilities in West Bengal and Tamil Nadu, giving it domestic production capacity for large module supply programs.
