SECI has awarded 1,344 MW under its 1.5 GW pumped storage projects auction, with Greenko, Tata Power and Torrent Energy securing the awarded capacity.
The Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI) has announced the results of its auction for 1,500 MW/12,000 MWh of pumped storage projects (PSPs), awarding a total of 1,344 MW under the competitive bidding process launched in December 2025.
Greenko Energies Private Limited emerged as the largest winner, securing 720 MW at a total storage cost of ₹13.49 million per MW per annum and an Equivalent Annual Fixed Charge (EAFC) of ₹10.96 million per MW per annum.
Tata Power Company Limited was awarded 324 MW at a total storage cost of ₹13.51 million per MW per annum and an EAFC of ₹10.84 million per MW per annum. Torrent Energy Storage Solutions Private Limited secured the remaining 300 MW at a total storage cost of ₹13.50 million per MW per annum.
Under the tender framework, the selected developers will establish the pumped storage projects and make storage capacity available to buying entities on an on-demand basis. Developers will be responsible for land acquisition, project development, statutory approvals and grid connectivity, while the buying entities will manage the charging and discharging operations of the storage facilities.
Earlier this month, SECI also announced the results of its 2,000 MW interstate transmission system (ISTS)-connected wind power auction, in which 1,495 MW was awarded. Gentari Renewables India Castor One emerged as the lowest bidder, securing 200 MW at a tariff of ₹3.78 per kWh.
