SolarEra Green Renewables plans to invest ₹250 crore in a battery energy storage system (BESS) manufacturing and integration facility in Talegaon Industrial Area near Pune, Maharashtra. The proposed plant is designed for an annual capacity of 5 GWh, with commissioning targeted for July 2027. The company has secured a 180,000-square-foot industrial facility for the project, which will be developed through its step-down subsidiary, Enercache Storage System Private Limited.

The facility’s approach centres on system integration rather than battery-cell production. SolarEra plans to use cells procured from external suppliers and combine them into storage systems supported by its internally developed energy management system (EMS). This software is designed to monitor battery performance, manage state of charge, support peak shaving and optimise renewable energy use. Grid-interaction functions will be configured to meet the requirements of individual projects.

SolarEra intends to supply the facility’s output to utility-scale renewable energy projects and commercial and industrial customers. These applications can use battery storage to manage electricity demand, shift energy availability across different periods and support the integration of variable renewable generation. The company also expects the plant to serve its existing project portfolio while supplying storage solutions to other customers.

The proposed investment builds on SolarEra’s existing activities in solar engineering, procurement and construction, renewable energy project development, power generation, and operations and maintenance. The company has also been involved in projects associated with Maharashtra’s Mukhyamantri Saur Krushi Vahini Yojana 2.0 and the central government’s PM-KUSUM programme. The new facility would extend its activities into storage-system integration, linking battery technology and energy-management software with renewable power projects.

A key distinction is the combination of externally sourced cells and an in-house EMS, rather than a fully integrated battery-cell manufacturing operation. The plant’s planned 5 GWh annual capacity describes the energy-storage systems it aims to manufacture and integrate each year; it is not a measure of the facility’s instantaneous power output. Actual production will depend on commissioning, cell supply and the ramp-up of manufacturing operations.
