Karnataka is seeking to attract global investment across renewable energy, battery storage, electric mobility and clean-energy manufacturing, with the state government highlighting its expanding renewable energy capacity and established clean-energy ecosystem. The investment outreach was part of a roadshow in Bengaluru held ahead of the Bharat Renewable Energy Summit and Expo 2026 in New Delhi.

Karnataka Energy Minister KJ George said the state was inviting investors, technology providers and industry leaders to explore opportunities in solar-wind hybrid projects, rooftop solar, electric mobility, renewable energy manufacturing and battery energy storage systems (BESS). The state is positioning these sectors as part of its broader clean-energy and industrial development strategy.

The state has also highlighted its experience in large-scale renewable energy development, with the Pavagada Solar Park cited as an example. The 2,050 MW solar park in Tumakuru district spans around 13,000 acres and has been presented by the state as a model combining utility-scale renewable generation with local economic opportunities.

According to Karnataka's Energy Department, the state's renewable energy capacity has expanded from around 26 GW to more than 40 GW, with approximately 4 GW to 5 GW being added annually, as stated by Additional Chief Secretary Gaurav Gupta during the roadshow. The state is also seeking to strengthen renewable energy integration through initiatives including PM-KUSUM Components B and C, which extend decentralised clean-energy applications to the agricultural sector.

Karnataka's clean-energy investment pitch extends beyond conventional solar and wind generation. Battery storage, electric mobility, smart grids and emerging technologies are increasingly being included in the state's investment agenda as renewable generation expands and the electricity system requires greater flexibility. The state government's investment platform also identifies renewable energy generation and related manufacturing as key areas for investors.

At the national level, the investment outreach comes as India continues to expand its renewable energy and manufacturing base. MNRE Secretary Santosh Kumar Sarangi said policy certainty and the manufacturing capabilities developed across the renewable energy value chain were creating a foundation for continued investment, while also highlighting the need to connect domestic capital with international financing for the country's energy transition.

The Bharat Renewable Energy Summit and Expo 2026 is scheduled to take place from November 2 to 5 at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi. The event will be held alongside the ninth International Solar Alliance Assembly and the fourth International Conference on Green Hydrogen, providing Karnataka an additional platform to present its renewable energy, storage, electric mobility and clean-energy investment opportunities to international stakeholders.
