Suzlon has secured a 201.6 MW wind power project from Waaree Group, marking the company's entry into the wind energy sector through its first utility-scale wind project.
Suzlon has secured a 201.6 MW wind energy order from Waaree Forever Energies Private Limited (WFEPL), the independent power producer (IPP) arm of the Waaree Group, for a project in Andhra Pradesh. The project marks Waaree Group’s entry into the wind energy sector and its first utility-scale wind power development.
The project will be executed under Suzlon’s Development Company (DevCo) model, an integrated execution framework that combines project development, engineering, procurement and construction (EPC), commissioning and long-term operations. The model is designed to streamline project delivery, minimise development risks and improve execution timelines for large-scale renewable energy projects.
Under the contract, Suzlon will install 64 units of its S144 wind turbine generators, each with a rated capacity of 3.15 MW. The company will manage the entire project lifecycle, including land acquisition, turbine supply, balance-of-plant infrastructure, installation, commissioning and long-term operations and maintenance (O&M) services.
The latest order strengthens Suzlon’s presence in Andhra Pradesh, increasing its order pipeline in the state to nearly 1 GW. The company continues to expand its footprint through integrated EPC and DevCo-led projects as demand for utility-scale renewable energy infrastructure grows across India.
For Waaree Group, the project represents a strategic expansion beyond its established solar business into wind power generation. Through its IPP arm, the company aims to build a diversified renewable energy portfolio that supports India’s growing clean energy demand while reinforcing its position as an integrated renewable energy developer.
The project also reflects the increasing adoption of integrated execution models across the renewable energy sector. By offering end-to-end responsibility—from project development and construction to long-term asset management—such models are helping accelerate project delivery and improve execution efficiency.
The order further underscores continued investment momentum in India’s wind energy sector, as developers increasingly pursue diversified renewable energy portfolios, including wind-solar hybrid projects, to meet the country’s expanding demand for reliable clean power.
