Prime Minister Narendra Modi has inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for development projects worth nearly ₹18,000 crore in Andhra Pradesh, reaffirming the Centre’s commitment to accelerating the state’s infrastructure, manufacturing and industrial development.

The Prime Minister inaugurated the Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport at Bhogapuram in Vizianagaram district. Developed as a greenfield airport, the facility is expected to significantly improve domestic and international connectivity across North Andhra while supporting tourism, trade, logistics and future industrial investments in the region.

A key highlight of the visit was the foundation stone for a semiconductor manufacturing facility in Visakhapatnam. The project is expected to strengthen India’s domestic semiconductor ecosystem, enhance indigenous chip manufacturing capabilities and support the country’s ambition of becoming a global electronics manufacturing hub.

The Prime Minister also launched and laid the foundation for several projects spanning road transport, railways, energy and urban infrastructure. These initiatives are aimed at improving regional connectivity, facilitating faster movement of passengers and freight, and strengthening public infrastructure to meet the state’s growing industrial and economic requirements.

As part of the programme, Prime Minister Modi also flagged off the expansion of the UDAN regional connectivity scheme, further improving air links between smaller cities and underserved regions. The initiative is expected to enhance accessibility, stimulate regional economic activity and create new opportunities for businesses, tourism and local communities.

The latest investments complement the Centre’s broader efforts to position Andhra Pradesh as a key destination for advanced manufacturing, technology and infrastructure development. Enhanced connectivity through airports, highways and industrial corridors is expected to attract greater domestic and foreign investment while improving the state’s competitiveness across multiple sectors.

With significant investments directed towards transport infrastructure, semiconductor manufacturing and industrial development, the projects are expected to generate employment, strengthen economic activity and contribute to Andhra Pradesh’s long-term growth while supporting India’s wider infrastructure and manufacturing ambitions.
