Apraava Wins Andhra Pradesh ISTS Project for 3 GW Renewables

Apraava Energy has secured an interstate transmission project in Andhra Pradesh to enable the evacuation of approximately 3 GW of renewable energy from the Ananthapur renewable energy zone. The project includes new 765 kV transmission lines, a pooling substation and a STATCOM system to strengthen grid integration.

Apraava Energy has secured a new interstate transmission system (ISTS) project in Andhra Pradesh to support the evacuation of approximately 3 GW of renewable energy from the Ananthapur renewable energy zone. The company acquired the special purpose vehicle Ananthpuram Transmission Limited after emerging as the successful bidder under the Government of India’s Tariff-Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) framework.

The project includes the development of approximately 250 circuit kilometres of 765 kV transmission lines, a 4,500 MVA (3×1,500 MVA) 765 kV pooling substation, and a ±300 MVAR Static Synchronous Compensator (STATCOM) to improve grid stability and power quality.

The transmission infrastructure is expected to strengthen renewable energy integration into the national transmission network, reduce grid congestion and facilitate the reliable evacuation of utility-scale solar and wind power from one of Andhra Pradesh’s major renewable energy hubs.

The project marks Apraava Energy’s first transmission investment in Andhra Pradesh and expands its growing portfolio of interstate transmission assets as the company increases its presence in India’s transmission sector.

As renewable energy capacity continues to grow across resource-rich states, transmission infrastructure has become a critical enabler of India’s energy transition by connecting renewable generation centres with demand hubs while maintaining grid reliability.

For Andhra Pradesh, the project is expected to enhance transmission capacity, improve grid resilience and support future renewable energy investments, reinforcing the state’s role in India’s expanding clean energy ecosystem.

The latest investment strengthens Apraava Energy’s low-carbon infrastructure portfolio and supports the development of a more robust interstate transmission network to facilitate long-term renewable energy growth and energy security.
