Tamil Nadu has signed 97 MoUs involving proposed investments of ₹67,542 crore across renewable energy, automotive, electronics, data centres and advanced manufacturing. The projects are expected to create more than one lakh jobs.

The agreements were signed during the Vettri Tamil Nadu Investment Conclave 2026 in Chennai, covering sectors including automotive, renewable energy, electronics, life sciences, research and development, data centres and advanced manufacturing. The investment commitments are aimed at strengthening Tamil Nadu’s industrial base while attracting projects involving emerging technologies and high-value manufacturing.

The latest agreements include both greenfield projects and expansions of existing facilities. The diverse investment portfolio reflects the state’s efforts to attract capital across established industries as well as newer sectors with significant growth potential.

Renewable energy is among the key sectors included in the investment commitments, alongside electric mobility and advanced manufacturing. The planned investments are expected to support the development of clean energy infrastructure while creating opportunities across the wider renewable energy and technology supply chains.

Data centres and digital infrastructure also feature prominently in the investment pipeline, reflecting the growing demand for computing capacity driven by cloud services, artificial intelligence and digitalisation. The expansion of these facilities is expected to create additional demand for reliable and increasingly renewable sources of electricity.

The investment commitments are projected to generate more than one lakh direct and indirect employment opportunities across the state. The projects are also expected to support industrial development beyond Tamil Nadu’s traditional manufacturing centres by encouraging investment across multiple districts.

The latest commitments take the total investment proposals secured by the state during the first 100 days of the new administration to more than ₹1 lakh crore. The government has positioned investment facilitation, faster approvals and infrastructure development as key priorities for converting these commitments into operational projects.

For Tamil Nadu, the investment push comes as the state seeks to strengthen its position as a destination for manufacturing, clean energy, electronics, digital infrastructure and emerging technologies. The combination of renewable energy investments with industrial and technology projects could also support the development of a more integrated clean energy and manufacturing ecosystem.

The 97 MoUs mark a significant addition to Tamil Nadu’s investment pipeline and underline continued interest from domestic and international companies. As these projects progress from commitments to implementation, they are expected to contribute to industrial expansion, employment generation and the state’s longer-term economic growth.
