Seven Greens Solar Systems has commissioned a 2.7 MW rooftop solar project across 23 railway stations spanning approximately 350 km in Rajasthan and Haryana, strengthening Indian Railways’ renewable energy infrastructure across the North Western Railway network.

The project includes rooftop solar installations on station buildings and railway infrastructure, with the generated electricity expected to support station operations, reduce dependence on conventional grid power and lower electricity costs across the network.

The deployment forms part of Indian Railways’ broader strategy to increase renewable energy adoption and advance its long-term net-zero emissions objective. Railway stations have become an important segment for rooftop solar deployment, with installations being expanded across passenger stations, administrative buildings, workshops and other operational facilities.

Rooftop solar systems on railway infrastructure help reduce transmission losses, improve energy efficiency and utilise existing built-up infrastructure for clean power generation.

The 2.7 MW installation is expected to contribute to lower operational expenditure while improving the sustainability of railway operations. The generated solar power will meet a portion of station energy requirements and support greater integration of renewable energy into the railway distribution network.

Indian Railways has been accelerating renewable energy deployment through rooftop solar projects, open-access renewable power procurement and energy-efficient infrastructure upgrades, with the objective of reducing electricity costs, improving energy security and increasing the use of non-fossil fuel-based power across its operations.
