Greenvolt Power, part of the Greenvolt Group, has successfully connected its 200 MW battery energy storage system (BESS) at Nowa Wieś Ełcka to Poland’s transmission grid, marking a significant milestone in the country’s energy transition.

Developed in partnership with BYD Energy Storage, the project forms part of a broader 400 MW/1.6 GWh energy storage programme being deployed across Poland. It is among the country’s largest battery storage investments and is designed to strengthen grid stability, improve system flexibility and facilitate the integration of increasing volumes of renewable energy.

The utility-scale BESS will store surplus renewable electricity during periods of excess generation and discharge power during peak demand, helping reduce grid congestion and minimise renewable energy curtailment.
