Zenith Energy has signed a binding agreement to acquire an Italian biogas project developer for up to €1.6 million, marking its entry into Italy's biomethane market.
Zenith Energy Ltd has signed a binding letter of intent and exclusivity agreement to acquire an Italian biogas project developer for up to €1.6 million, marking the company’s entry into Italy’s biogas and biomethane market.
The proposed transaction involves the acquisition of a company that owns a fully permitted, engineered and construction-ready biogas project in Italy. Zenith Energy has not disclosed the identity of the target company, stating that further details will be announced upon completion of the acquisition.
The planned facility is expected to produce approximately 3 million cubic metres of biomethane annually for injection into Italy’s national gas network. The project will benefit from a 15-year government incentive programme and is supported by a long-term feedstock supply agreement covering municipal and agro-industrial waste.
Commercial operations are targeted to commence in the third quarter of 2027.
According to Zenith Energy, the acquisition will serve as the foundation for expanding its biogas and biomethane business in Italy, complementing the company’s existing solar development portfolio and strengthening its presence in the country’s renewable energy sector.
