Mecpower Solutions Limited has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Gujarat to establish a 5 GWh battery energy storage system (BESS) assembly facility at Karjan, Gujarat.
The proposed facility will be developed with an investment of approximately ₹1.6 billion and is expected to strengthen the state’s growing battery manufacturing ecosystem while supporting India’s expanding energy storage market.
The latest investment reflects the increasing focus on domestic battery manufacturing as demand for grid-scale and commercial energy storage solutions continues to rise alongside renewable energy deployment.
Earlier, in July 2026, Mecpower Solutions commissioned a 3.63 MWdc solar power plant for Ruchi Foods LLP at Village Simali in Karjan, Vadodara district, Gujarat.
In March 2026, the company, in partnership with Rama Reflections India, signed a Battery Energy Storage Purchase Agreement (BESPA) with Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (GUVNL) for the development of a 65 MW/130 MWh standalone BESS project in Gujarat. The agreement has a tenure of 12 years with a contracted tariff of ₹187,994 per MW per month.
