RWE has signed a 15-year power purchase agreement with Google for the full output of its 155 MWac Crooked Creek solar project in Oklahoma. The agreement will support Google’s operations in the Southwest Power Pool market and strengthens RWE’s renewable energy portfolio in the United States.
RWE has signed a 15-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with Google for the entire output of its 155 MWac Crooked Creek solar project in McCurtain County, Oklahoma.
Construction of the solar project is expected to begin later in 2026, with commercial operations scheduled for 2028.
The project will supply renewable electricity to support Google’s operations in the Southwest Power Pool (SPP) market, marking the first clean energy agreement between RWE and Google in the US Southwest.
In addition to the Crooked Creek project, RWE operates the 148 MW Boiling Springs wind project and has 1.6 GW of renewable energy projects under development across Oklahoma, further strengthening its presence in the state’s renewable energy market.
Earlier, in July 2026, RWE began construction of a 236 MW/470 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) at the Hambach opencast mine near Niederzier, Germany. Preparatory work for the project started at the end of 2025, and the first of 128 lithium-ion battery containers has already been delivered to the site.
The Oklahoma solar agreement strengthens RWE’s renewable energy portfolio in the United States while supporting long-term clean power procurement for one of the world’s largest technology companies.
