Mexens has secured €288 million in senior debt financing to develop 230 solar and wind projects across France and Spain. The funding supports the company's expansion strategy as it targets more than 4 GW of installed renewable energy capacity by 2030.

French multi-energy group Mexens, formerly known as Technique Solaire, has secured €288 million in senior debt financing to support the development of 230 solar and wind energy projects across France and Spain.

The financing has been arranged through a consortium of lenders comprising Bpifrance, Crédit Agricole Transitions & Energies, Crédit Agricole Leasing & Factoring, partner banks of the Crédit Agricole Group, Crédit Agricole CIB, and CIC Corporate & Institutional Banking (CIC CIB).

The funding will support a portfolio of predominantly greenfield renewable energy projects with a combined installed capacity of 244 MW, including 180 MW in France and 64 MW in Spain. The portfolio includes renewable energy assets of varying sizes and technologies, spanning both distributed and utility-scale developments.

Mexens noted that this is the first financing transaction undertaken by the company that also covers wind energy projects, marking a significant expansion beyond its established solar business.

The company currently operates 1 GW of renewable energy assets and has set a target of exceeding 4 GW of installed capacity by 2030. Founded in 2008, the company rebranded as Mexens earlier this year following its acquisition of Iberdrola’s onshore renewable energy assets in France, reflecting its broader multi-energy growth strategy.

The latest financing underscores continued investor confidence in diversified renewable energy portfolios as developers accelerate solar and wind deployment across key European markets.
